Photo Progress 1
I’ve spent the last few weeks shaking off the photography rust, and it has been a mixed bag of emotions. Returning to the flow of observing and finding what speaks to me has been exhilarating. At the same time, it's frustrating. I’m met with moments of photographer’s block where I’m looking at something and just thinking to myself, “What am I looking at?” I have had to pull back the pressure I’m putting on myself to find something compelling and interesting.
I became aware that I was falling into the habit of trying to improve as fast as possible. I was forcing the process instead of taking it one step at a time. I have focused on finding frames within the camera frame to emphasize what I wanted to photograph. In the picture above, I liked how the stairs stood out against the brick, and the entryway gave a natural frame for the foreground. The brick wall and cars outlined the opening to the stairs.
I’m going to keep experimenting with this process. I can’t wait to see how it comes along.
